New year, New responsibilities

Recently, my teacher had this motivation to start rover scouting in form 6. So the leaders were down to the ones with experience or well known for having achieved a certain award. There are 3 King's scouts in form 6 including me, both of them are my close comrades and were pretty well known for having achieved King's scouts award. I, on the other hand was just this one friend who somehow seems to be very close with them for no apparent reason to the majority. Before the AGM of the meeting where we nominate and choose the board members, I was ditched by both of them without any warning, they didn't appear at the meeting. So before the meeting started, I have friends ranting around  about what a nuisance scouting is and how we have no leaders since all the King's scouts left. I was pretty much a nobody in scouting since only my classmates and a few others knew about the King's scouts thing. The funniest thing is that they seem to rant about it to me, So I kept quiet and played along. (even signaled my classmates to not comment much)

And the fun began when AGM started, to be honest I didn't know if anyone would vote for me or not as President but for the heck of it, I tried. I am truly blessed to have supportive classmates with me throughout the voting session. My name was nominated by one of my classmate and I had to go out and sell myself, I told them what I believed in and what I've achieved beforehand. (note that the person who ranted to me before the AGM turned pale instantly, sorry bruh.. didn't have the heart to tell you earlier)  The next thing I knew, I was the official Crew Leader of Rovers of SMK Seafield (lets call it that for now since we have yet to get a troop name/alphabet)

It struck me as I was standing in front that I've never been a leader before. Like the ultimate leader of everything, usually I worked behind the scenes supporting my leaders but this was a whole new experience. I was required to conduct the meeting and it hit me hard when the teacher suddenly kept quiet and passed on the meeting for me to have a word or two. I was required to give a speech. Not just any speech, but a speech to make them believe in scouting.  That dumb struck moment was followed by a quick mustering of confidence from past experiences when I was in charge of small groups of people. There I was facing 70+ people my age and I had to sell it to them as though it was the best thing in the world.  My brain cells worked to dig out any relevant information for the past few years on why I believed in scouting and why it matters. My brain was frantically working while my exterior tried to remain calm and collected like a leader.

I told them about the benefits. I shared successful example of people who were scouts. I SOLD IT like I meant it. But in all honesty, everything went with a blur. I remember seeing the teacher standing at the back of the group nodding to my words giving a silent approval. I remember having my friends come up to me afterwards telling me about how inspired they felt. I had people calling me Pres. the next day, people I didn't know. I wished I had a video so I could see what I said and how I said it for I could not even imagine how I managed to do it. I sincerely thank my scouters who have trained me and shown a great example of how one conducts a meeting.

Despite all that, there is one problem though. The teacher in charge has an issue about me not being stern. She wants me to be stern with them. Stern with people my own age. (she really doesn't realize how that can jeopardize the whole thing) She doesn't agree on my way of conducting a meeting, in her eyes a leader has to be stern and firm. But that's not how I lead. I hope she understands that every leader has their own way of leading. My way is through camaraderie and mutual respect. I know for sure I'll get it from her for at least a couple times more for not being stern enough but hopefully she sees that leadership can be done in a different way other than hers as well.

I'd be brutally honest and comment on how this particular teacher expresses herself in words, she's harsh and she misinterprets information even before you finish the sentence. But she has good intentions. If it weren't because I dealt with someone close who acts the same way, I'd stay far far away from her already. If my past experiences are correct, there's only 2 ways to deal with them.
1st. Don't talk much. Don't talk at all if you have no solid proof or completed work to shut them up.
2nd. Talk to them through action.  They will only misinterpret words, but actions are louder than words and usually these people trust what their eyes more than they trust you .
But the most important thing is to NOT GIVE IN. Usually the things that they kutuk you for doesn't make sense at all. Gain their trust and you can have it your way. Hopefully its a win-win situation in this case. She's satisfied with my performance, I get to lead my crew in peace.

Scouting makes life dull

Would you consider joining scouts? It would make ordinary life seem dull. You just walk into amusement parks like.. I've done worst than that.

All because of..... scouting.

It spoils trips to amusement parks or team building courses. Who could blame you? When scouting offers activities such as abseiling, rock climbing, camping, fire making, dancing and so on. First aid lessons from scouts are so RPG. Plus the addition of a shrieking scouter covered in blood which could probably rival a ghost in the haunted house , it's no wonder scouts are trained to be fearless ( to some degree)

Not to mention the fact that you don't get to live a high school life filled with typical drama where you fight over who's the better friend or who used the wrong end of your eraser (which is pretty annoying) scouting makes one somewhat more mature to not care about such matters. Granted, who worries about which person drank your water when you are having a crisis on how to save your tent from ending up in Atlantis when there's a flood? Scouts couldn't care less about insignificant problems. They are forced to find a solution. Which is a pity on how they seldom get to experience  immature dramas that arise for the sake of drama.

Not only that, people think you're weird since you're pretty much used to unintentionally cutting yourself up. Oh and you think knives are pretty which  pretty much places you somewhere along the same hierarchy as a serial killer.

(Who in the world spends their free time fixing and sharpening knives? ...I do..)

So before you join scouts...
Think carefully, are you prepared to have scouting make your ordinary life become dull in comparison?

Pentarafan pengakap raja "sequel"

So this is the detailed version of what I can remember about stuff before pentarafan since I don't think I wanna forget about it in the future and then regret on why I didn't blog it.

Lets start from waaaaaaaaaaaaaay before pentarafan :P (few months b4)
I remember the joy of getting through ujian sikap pengakap raja, that was hell on earth >.< till this day I can still feel the sorrow and hardship of that very camp in my bones -_-  So after USPR, life was hectic.

The worst part was juggling between school and training. We had to stay back every tuesday to train, train how to dance, train how to read a compass, train how to do a knot, train how to set up campsite, train how to cook , just train ,train and train. lol. I would've gone choo choo if it weren't for my awesome scout peeps :)

Other than that was trying to find a way to go home after training.. sometimes the abang van would leave me T^T.. I had to take the taxi sometimes because the bastard decided to leave me behind -_- . Next was the problem of getting stuff that I need like raw materials and tools. I remember walking to Giant (god damned far T^T) to get my supplies. I didn't want my sister to take the fact that I need her help to buy stuff to be the reason why I can't go for camp. And so I walked home with a heavy supplies hoping that she isn't home yet ._. lol. Hahaha, I remember doing logbook in a pitch black room with only the table lamp on at night so that my family wouldn't say that king's scout is taking too much of my time.

Not to mention the times when I just come back from camp feeling burnt and drop dead tired and still force myself to go to school the next day while my friends skip school ._. Hard times man ._. Not a word like  "I'm tired " "I have a lot of logbook" or "camp was hard" was uttered to my family. Of course majority of that time I was god damned depressed every day hoping my family wouldn't stop me from pursuing king's scout. (grateful to tung, ceiling and osum ppl) *name changed for protection :P*

My whole chinese new year was spent making a first aid kit and chopping and shaving bamboo for model perintis. I would like to thank my dad for all the help he gave me secretly whilst I did all these projects :)  To be honest, I'm not very good at nailing stuff, so my first aid kit looked crappy ._. If it were to duel with an lunch box, it will surely lose =/ But when I checked my first aid kit the next day, there were loads of additions that instantly made it look like a first aid kit fit for war. "legs" , "hooks", "handle" , and heck even a "drawer lock" . ( THANKIEW SO MUCH DAD T^T) First aid kit was done in two days .

Model perintis took me one whole week.. yet again secretly helped by dad and his orang asli friend T^T.. thank you for helping me shave my poorly chopped bamboos until it looks like a million dollars while you guys did some catching up bout your lives .. (and man.. they were FAST, It would've took me another whole week just to shave the bamboos but they were like lightning fast mann .__. )

Thank god I have a supporting father when it really matters T^T .. Else I would've banged my head against a wall just to figure out how to go to camp with all my stuff.

lol , to all you peeps out there going thru hardship..

"Keep your final goal in mind, no matter how tough times are. Picture yourself achieving it :) It will fuel you with determination and hope :D "

King's scout award ceremony

All in all, it was an eventful morning. lol.

Can't be that short right? xD
Okay, let's start from early in the morning. I woke up around 6 and there was a problem with the electric supply, So I had to walk around the house with a torchlight. While going through my morning preps, I thought to myself, if I weren't a scout. In these circumstances I'd be screaming and panicking like a 4 yeard old because the whole house was dark and creepy, Not slowly rummage through my drawer of camping supplies for my torchlight and candles. Anyways, I had shang coming to pick me up at 6.50am. He was late, as always. lol.
We went to school to pick up SL and 2 scouters. Did I mention I forgot my bushmantong? (rope tied in a dna way to be worn by king's scouts) thank god shang's hs was nearby so I could borrow his bushmantong(THANKIEW VELI MUCH),Basically talked crap the whole journey to Hulu Langat.(Venue) It was funny how we had nasi lemak at a random road side with a besi buruk kilang infront of it. Its quite a weird sight really xD , You see 8 people standing in front of the besi burk kilang eating nasi lemak (some scouter tapao for us ) . While happily eating and talking crap, we saw a car make a U-turn just after it passed by us, having the intention of coming over. Turns out its a sir(scouter of quite high post in our district :) )  Everyone in the nasi lemak club froze and started laughing, why? hahahah, for 1 , we never tapao extra for him. 2nd, we got caught red handed. 3rd.It was hilarious.
So eventually the vip scouter came over and started chit chatting with us while we ate. hahahhaha. one of the scouters initially said :"why no chicken wan?" when he got his nasi lemak. But soon after, a couple of real life chickens appeared behind him (prolly from the besi buruk place). Lol. After nasi lemak. shang drove like a madman. lol. hahhaha. (we were speeding in a place filled with graveyards.lol.from chinese graveyard to christian graveyard)
We reached. registered. reunion abit with a bunch of comrades.
afterwards was yadayadayada, speech and what not.
When we got the award, yes go on stage to get it. Little did we know there was a mini awarding booklet ceremony directly after the official king's scout award. What happened was after I received my certificate for king's scouts, I marched out. As soon as I left the building, I was welcomed with a bunch of cheerful vip scouters from out district(shocking really)  gesturing us to follow the way their hand was pointing at. Around the corner was a happy shang (lol), shaking my hand and passing a booklet to me in an award manner and suddenly... a bunch of camera's came out of no where and flashes all around enough to blind me.(Honestly I was purely dumbstruck )lol. Fun? yep. turns out my friends had booklets handed to them as well by their own scouters, in my case was shang. lol.
I took a pic with dad (joy) , well the after part consists of loads of camwhoring.  LOADS.
   -scouter/driver

King's scouts standardization 2013 ( pentarafan pengakap raja)

5 days 4 nights camp in mutiara semenyih, selangor.
A camp where I earn my highest badge award- King's scout award.
results whether i pass or not comes around september. anyways, camp was fun :D
It was more of an exam but for me it was fun.
To those of you who found this post because you guys are taking king's scouts examination and you are panicking and seeking for tips.I'd be happy to help ya :p
--CPR 152--

First day, I reached the place. duh. lol. Got my CPR number
and a space slightly bigger than a car park for my kem kraf.
I had a partner too, And the space was dang small for two -.-
So after 3 rounds of walking back and forth for my stuff to my campsite which was dreadfully tiring... I managed to move in to my new home.lolz.An area by the lake which is damn far from the main building. I got package B, which means I'm suppose to build a menara, pagar, meja makan, bendera and dapur.I had insufficient bamboo.lol.
tip no.1- put your stuff as near to your campsite as possible when you arrive to the place.Or you'll regret it -.-

I brought my whole house to camp.Like literally.
Next, I started raising my bed, I managed to get it up right before midnight.x)
My partner on the other hand had trouble raising her bed and chose to sleep on the ground for the night. Could have finished my bed earlier but somehow it seems like loads of people don't know how to light up a gas lamp.I had to stop whatever I was doing for 4 times to teach people how to light up a gas lamp.lolz. Not complaining but it was seriously very inconvenient to leave your knots half tied and bamboo hanging in the air .
tip no 2. - help people out. but remember to finish off your knot before you head over and start your tutoring session.

We were ordered to sleep by midnight and no more construction allowed. So i slept like a mummy till morning, it was my first time making my own bed and sleeping in it. *so dang proud*
note* bamboos in my school got burned, so i wasn't able to practice.  Moving on, the next day was also a half day camp craft session . I finished off my tempat teduh and decided to lie on my bed to weave the leaves for my tempat teduh. My bed is higher than my waist line , why did I make it that high?
That very place flooded during my perkhidmatan camp , I have proof :P
Though no harm done, My tent was floating when I reached my tent and my supplies were dry x)
So if my bed was that high , how did I get up? easy, I brought a wooden stool. It is a life saver x) told my dad i needed his wooden stool no matter what . Its very convenient x)
While I was weaving the leave and falling asleep halfway because it was too hot to get out of the shade of my bed. * everyone was working under the sun, I decided to work smart :P* right when i decided to take a power nap, I heard the announcement :
"CPR 152, SILA DATANG KE DEWAN SEKARANG"
me: whuttttt? nearly fell off mah bed ,grabbing my tongkat and running to the dewan.lolz.
they wanted me to choose between my model perintis which I poster in prev post and my knots chart. You'll see the chart in a vid later on. So I  chose my model since I used up my hols just to finish it where else the knot's chart just took me a day. After that I answered loads of questions on the way on why I got called for, lolz. When I got back to my campsite, I saw someone curled up underneath the tripod of my bed ._.  *awesome spot since it's shaded by my fly sheet x)* so I walked closer, so there sat my partner all sweat and tears as she grip her phone tightly. yep ._. .. she's sick. lol
I accompanied her to the main hall and was ordered to go back and continue what I was doing. lolz, Her friend from her school and I decided to finish off her bed for her so she'll have somewhere to rest when she comes back. Then I finished my flagpole, so proud of it xD It was like the only one standing continuously without falling in my area ~~

After raising my flag, A few pentaraf came with my partner, turns out she is moving away.To a place with more shade. So everyone helped her with her stuff, her bed is moved away too . After moving her stuff, I felt sad and happy at the same time. I lost a partner.. but on the bright side I got a bigger space for my camp craft.Seriously hoped she gets better.
We had exams ,exams and exams the following days. My advice, listen to your scouter and never ignore their advice and teachings. like seriously. there was a fried rice exam, hahaha, my friend told me my fried rice looked like japanese fried rice xD And then marching exam. Which went well even though I got the strict pentaraf. Moving on would be backwoods cooking, my rice didn't cook.. oh joy..

The day ended with knots test and interview by group. I spent the whole night digging holes and making my fence. Why the whole night? I had rock floors -_- sand and rocks. You can literally see sparks forming when your digger hits the rock. And when you finally have a hole, you just put the sliced bamboo in and start doing piling. What piling? Its called layering rocks, sand, rocks ,sand and then hitting the rock into the ground to make it more packed. I built a side door since if i built a back door it leads to the lake. lolz.
tip no.3 -have determination
A bunch of other exams, bla bla bla. lol. I didn't have to cook much during camp. I had awesome neighbors and petaling mates never seem to cook just a small portion of food x)
But bear in mind that the deed is to be returned, help other whenever they are in need. I called my camp mates "bangla" since they walk around with a towel on their head and do construction xD* no offense to bangla's out there * I made like 6 hard boiled eggs the following morning, and when it cooled down. I kinda went " hoi, para bangla, marilah dapatkan telur ko" xD so friggin' funneh.
Everyone was like laughing at my statement. Thank god everyone looks much more cheered up xD
Since my partner was unwell and lost her voice, I automatically became the PL throughout the whole camp when she can't make it. I think the only thing i'm good at is making people laugh, hahaha~  one of my friend was like : idk how to be like you weyh.. you always look so cheerful and laughing .
me: ._. easy, ask your mom to name you after happiness x)
lolz. moving on.... MALAM KEBUDAYAAN. it was fun x) i danced with my pals from 131 petaling. even tho we gt some moves wrong here and there, the pentarafs were impressed with our spirit xD they said we damn "ceria" , to be honest we were having Fun xD
tip no.4 - just enjoy and have fun :)

my meja makan, kerusi and an awesome view.

My bed~ so nice to sleep in xD ~~~~~~~~~~

Can you see my pink cup anywhere????????

my menara and knot's chart. I hung there for fun

My tempat teduh and tiang bendera :P

My model perintis

Recently my aunt who lives in London came back and decided to stay with my mom in my hometown during the school hols. Which means I'm gonna live with her for the whole week since I'm going back to my hometown for the hols. So...what the heck does my aunt has to do with my future other half or my future husband according to her?
The thing is.. SHE STARTED THE DAMN TOPIC ... -_-
yep, me aunt said : Jo, next time ah.. get a good husband , one who will cook, work and stuff and is respectful to elders.etc.*and the speech goes on and on...*
me: *busy doing some scout stuff with bamboo and trying to ignore the statement and be respectful at the same time*

 haih... lol
lol
was busy making this the whole hols*
